A Path Less Travelled (PLT)

A resource for practical information, tips, views and advice related to our never-ending journey in the quest for improved character and living an extraordinary life. A key emphasis is to encourage knowledge and implementation of timeless values and principles, that have applied in various civilisations throughout history and that transcend cultures and faith communities.

Through weekly articles, write-ups and placement of relevant documents, PLT shares information about themes with substance and meaning as well as practical tools for implementation. PLT also covers related topics of a general nature.

Some of the topics to be covered over time include Values, Principles and Character, Lifestyle, Life Skills, Relationships, Body, Soul and Spirit, Family, Leadership and Management, Lifelong Learning and much more.

Founder Menanteau Serfontein

pp (1)

Enthusiastic about life, new challenges, developing and growing. Passionate about people, business, sport, the great outdoors and his faith.

Menanteau has always had a keen interest in Values, Principles, Character and Culture. The apparent degeneration of “Objective” Values, Morality and Virtue (absolute truths) across the world (including South Africa where he lives) has prompted him to do a lot of reading, studying and thinking about the topic, including the way in which cultures have evolved over the past 80 years or so. He then decided to establish a website to share his thoughts and suggestions to assist those who are interested in choosing “A Path Less Travelled”, towards living an extraordinary life.

Menanteau has been married to Chanel since 1975. They have a daughter Seugnet and a son Ruan who are both married. They have 4 grandchildren.

Menanteau obtained a B.Comm Honours degree from the University of Port Elizabeth (now Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University) and completed a Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Industrial Relations at the University of the Witwatersrand. He attended Executive Development Programmes at Henley Management College in the United Kingdom as well as the Harvard Business School and the Columbia Business School in the USA.

He is Registered as a Chartered HR Professional with the South African Board for People Practices (SABPP).

Menanteau gained in-depth hands-on business, leadership and management experience during his full time working career of some 37 years in the motor, mining, metal, sugar and food industries in large companies listed on the FTSE/JSE. During this time, he spent 30 years as an HR Generalist at Top Executive level and as a Director on Boards for 14 years. Since 2013, he has been an independent HR Consultant and Coach/Mentor.
